Many people would tell you that it will help you mask your Internet activities, as the server will be tricked into thinking that your traffic is generated by a different device, but it's not actually that easy. The identifier is generated by your network card and, in theory, this address should always remain the same, but you can easily change it. It's made up from a series of 12 letters and numbers, and it's generally displayed in a format that looks like this 00-AB-C3-34-56-DC. The MAC address is a unique identifier that allows a network to recognize your PC. Before we begin, I think I should tell those of you who aren't that tech-savvy what a MAC address actually is.
